Climate

Trinidad enjoys 4 gentle seasons The town is situated on the front range of the Rocky Mountains in Southern Colorado. Being on the eastern slope at an altitude of 6,025′ above sea level it has a semi-arid climate with over 300 days of Sunshine per year. Precipitation averages 14 inches of rainfall and less than 100 inches of snowfall per year.

Summers are warm and dry with daytime temperatures in the 80 to 90 degree range, with scattered late summer afternoon thunderstorms. Because of the diverse topography, weather and temperatures can vary throughout the region, with mountain properties usually cooler. Severe cold in the winter is usually rare, and short lived, and often balmy days make one think spring has settled into the middle of winter.
